Difference between interior design and interior decoration

One school of thought believes that an interior designer is regarded at a high standard and has substantially more design responsibilities and training than the interior decoration, and there are those that consider both the profiles as same. There are those that consider the designer as a version of the architect and some that consider them as the house painter. Needless to say there is a baffle among these profiles. 

In respect to answer the question whether there is really any difference, one can conclude that since a person can get a degree in interior design, but not as an interior decorator, there is certainly a difference. 

So where is the difference between a decorator and a designer? By considering the definition of both, once can certainly notice the main difference. The definition for designer refers to building interior environment while that of the decorator suggests furnishing and decorating as the main activities.
